A change of seasons
The last of the color is leaving the mountains as I sit and gaze out my window. The dark brown of dirt and rock has taken over; and, with it, I feel a strong call to sink in a little deeper.
Let’s… just…. sink in a little deeper….
Snowflakes are on the horizon. I know they may arrive any day now. Still, what lives and breathes in the moment is something different. There is a subtlety here, one that may become profound if only we are willing to simply sink in a little deeper.
Can we… just…. sink in a little deeper….
–
I wrote that out last week. I wrote it out as the last of the color of autumn began to fade, and as I sat and waited for what I believed to be one small dance of snowflakes to move in. Today, I write to you from a winter wonderland. A grand snow has moved in, cast my home mountains in a brilliant dress of white – one woven together with deep shades of the dark green of the tall standing ponderosa….
… and it has all brought me into a space of deep joy and hope that I am allowing to sink deep, deep into my depths.
When life is beautiful, can we allow it to sink in?
It’s important, especially now.
Because, right now, our world is in deep need of beauty, joy, and hope.
I believe, now more than ever, our world needs you and I to be allowing that light to pierce us, to move through us, and to light us up.
We need this, because we are simultaneously in a new wave of darkness that has many paralyzed in fear and resting hopeless once again.
And we cannot allow this to happen.
When the Earthly forces at play tilt away from joy, vitality, beauty, and other wondrous expressions of life, and when the forces tilt towards those who would rather take from life and use it to fuel their own gain… well, we have a grand problem then.
We are facing a next wave of one grand problem
I’ve been having a lot of conversations with close ones in the days following the news of who is to be this country’s leader for the next 4 years. (Yes, I write this from early November 2024, in the days directly following the news that Donald Trump is to once again be my nation’s leader).
Mostly, we are in deep grief: deep grief for the state of reality, including the very real challenges at play in our world, along with the knowing that our country just elected, of our own free will, a leader that stands for everything that is greater destruction of life on this planet.
⭐ Take from others and make yourself look as good possible! ⭐
Is this really our ethos?
Ugh. Reality sucks sometimes. But we don’t change it by ignoring it, denying it, or glossing over it with bright and shiny ideas of what could be better.
We change reality by becoming more present to it. And, when it sucks, we allow it to suck. We feel the pain of it.
But we don’t let this pain take us down. Instead, we hold space for what is real and true (even if feeling that just plain sucks); AND, we call in something better.
This is alchemy. This is how we call in real change.
- be present in what is
- call in what you know is a more beautiful path forward
Allow this alchemy to change you. Allow this alchemy to sink deep down into your whole being.
Let it permeate every cell of your whole being.
Let it change the very being of you you are.
And, in doing so, let this ripple out into the world around you:
- into every interaction you have with another human being
- into every interaction you have with any other living being
- into every interaction you have a you sit or stand or walk on this Planet Earth
This is my prayer for our community, tied directly to action so that we can embody the experience of hope for a brighter, more beautiful world.
A dark tied moves in, but that doesn’t mean it drags us down. Instead, may we allow it to move us closer to what matters.
What matters now?
What matters now?
I’ll leave you on that thought for today.
